Ella's Favorite Alliteration

In the land of Ever After, there are many little chapters in Ella's Book of Life and Love.  Some are funny, some are friendly, and some do sting quite a bit.  Some are happy, sad, or pissed off.  Lots of chapters include a spanking, and that is usually a good thing even if it does not seem that way at the time.  Today's little story has all the ingredients for a delicious post.

And I could not help but notice the alliteration!

                          Sunday

                          Sam

                          Suspenders

                          Spanking

                          Sex

I do so love long, leisurely Sunday mornings.  I cannot sleep late myself, but Sam enjoys no alarm clock on the weekends.  Saturdays are usually full of errands and shopping since we both work full time, but Sundays we take more of a "Whatever and Whenever" approach.  No rushing around.  Lots of coffee.  Reading, news, long distance calls and emails to far flung family and friends.  And I just love sex on a Sunday morning.  Sam is always willing, and I like to take the time to wear something special for him.  He is not choosy.  Almost any lingerie is fine.  After all, as Meredith always says, it's just going to end up on the floor anyway.

When Sam does something special for me, I think it is usually in the creative implement department.  Digging to the back of the "toy box" (really his old sweater drawer) for something that makes my eyes light up and also suddenly makes me feel a little hesitant, too.  You know the feeling - the good "butterflies in your stomach" feeling.  So I was not at all prepared for his surprise last Sunday.  As I rounded the corner wearing a very pretty little black floaty chemise, I stopped dead in my tracks for Sam was just sitting there in a dress shirt and suit pants and (wait for it) SUSPENDERS.  And he was smiling because he knew what that does to me.

"Oh, be still my beating heart."

Somewhere in a past post, I am sure I have at least mentioned that I have a "thing" for men in suspenders.  Don't know why, but I just think they are as sexy as hell.  Of course, my favorite guy in suspenders would be Sam, but nothing can make me check out another man as quickly as seeing just a glimpse of suspenders under a man's suit coat.  And heaven help me if he takes off his jacket!

On several trips to London, Sam was working in the financial district or "The City," as it is referred to.  Every time he dressed for business and wore "braces" (as they are called by the Brits), I simply wanted to jump his bones.  If we were running late, Sam would just laugh at me.  Well, there are hundreds and hundreds of businessmen in the City who wear braces.  I was in a constant state of heat.  Sam would raise his eyebrows and subtly nod at some man passing us and then just laugh his ass off at my reaction.

I'm not choosy either.  Sure, it is nice if the man in suspenders is good-looking, too, but I have no shame with this particular fetish.  Can easily stand behind some unassuming plumber in the check out line at the grocery store, and suspenders will have the same effect on me.

                              Heavy-set farmer-type guys
loading pick-up trucks with sacks of feed.
                                               Yep.
The entire male wedding party at a church.
                                      Yep, Yep, and Yep.

So Sam is sitting there looking mighty pretty, and I am grinning from ear to ear.  And this is shaping up to be a might lovely Sunday.  Let's see, so far we have Sunday, Sam, and Suspenders.  I think I know what comes next.  As he led me into the bedroom, I snapped the back of his braces and giggled.  He didn't and sat me down on the edge of the bed.  I expected him to rummage around in the toy box, but this was to be "au naturel."  In a hot minute I was over the bed, my lingerie was flipped up, and there was a meeting of the hand to bottom.  He didn't say much; he didn't need to.  His hand was doing the talking and some exploring, too.  I thought I wanted this to go on forever, but I was soon begging for the last "S" word in this alliteration.

Fan-fucking-tastic

Sam made me wait a bit, just because he could, but as soon as I was permitted up, I was on him like flies on honey.  Those suspenders went down, along with anything else in my way.  "Oh, my stars!" is all I can tell you , Ladies.  That was one hell of an alliteration.

                        S.s.s.s.s.....superb and fan-fucking-tastic.

Not to be outdone, I made damn sure Sam had an exceptional alliteration, too.  We lay there a bit, exhausted I think.  I love to lay in the crook of his arm with my head tucked up under his chin.  I love his smell and the roughness of his beard.  I love his weight on me and the muscles in his arms.  I love his hands stroking my hair.  I even love when he says it's time to get up and pats my ass.  I love to make him happy.

So that was my Sunday.  We covered all those "S" words, I think.

I would like to add just a few more.

                     Special

                     Spectacular

                     Stupendous

                     Seeing Stars

                          And perhaps a platitude................

Good things cum to he who wears suspenders.
At least at Sam and Ella's house.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Spanky Ladies

If you are reading this blog, you are probably either already a spanked wife or trying to figure out how to become one.  If you are still in the "wannabe" stage, stay the course.  The rewards of a ttwd relationship are many and even life-changing for some of us.  Looking back to the initial months of our big transformation, I thought I knew how the connection between Sam and I would develop.  At that time I thought the only thing we needed for TTWD  was the two of us.  This turned out to be a very narrow perspective.

So now consider the Internet and private blogs Re: Spanking.  Is a knowledge of these sources absolutely essential to Sam and I practicing ttwd?  The answer is no.  However, my premise in this post is that reading and exchanging ideas with other like-minded people may enrich that ttwd relationship a hundred fold.  Sam and I did not try to imitate another couple's dynamic, but rather picked and chose and modified ttwd ideas and practices to make them our own.  Kind of what you might do with a basic recipe.  For me, just discovering that there were other women like me out there was a monumental finding.  Then, once I started to read, I began to embrace a much broader perspective.

As I gained more experience reading, writing, and commenting, I started to form virtual friendships.  I think I migrated toward bloggers who seemed to value the same qualities in a ttwd relationship as I did.  A sense of humor and engaging writing also seemed to draw me.  Meredith was my first contact in this new world and has remained a mentor to this day.

Soon I would occasionally write a blogger if there was an email address and an invitation to contact her.  Also, when I started to do book reviews, I would send the author a draft for her approval.  I also did some proofreading and beta-reading for several of our favorite authors.  For a long time we would only exchange emails intermittently.  Finally a few introduced themselves using real names, and I did the same.  There had to be a certain level of trust before that felt OK and safe.  Virtual friendships develop a little slower than ones that form in other walks of life, but I think that is for the best.  What we share with each other is a lot more personal.  Baring one's soul seems to be common practice on blogs I read.

As I came to know some of the women in this circle better, I would wonder what it would be like to just sit and talk.  To have coffee and exchange ideas and maybe just laugh together.  I was very unsure what it would be like to meet in person.  Would we both feel shy?  What if we sat down together and nobody talked?  How awkward would that be?  Then, just the sheer physical distances between us and the logistics/expense involved.  I tried to tell myself it probably couldn't ever happen.  But I still dreamed.

Then I started to Skype or talk on the phone with just a few women.  This was very exciting.  There was a voice and even a
face!  I could hear their laughter or see their smile.  They were kind

and human and funny. We talked a lot about ttwd.  How long had spanking held a fascination for me?  How did it start for Sam and me?  It seems we can all tell "our story."  No one made me feel like it was strange or perverted.  They were a lot like me.  It was simply wonderful, and I quickly felt close to them.

So when this spring PK and Sunny invited me to join a girls' beach trip in June, I practically fell off the couch!  Sam thought there was something wrong because I positively screamed, "Yes!" into the phone.  For several months I looked forward to that flight and meeting 5 other bloggers that I knew to varying degrees.  In the early part of June I wrote to you all how my anticipation was driving Sam crazy!

Some of these bloggers had met each other before.  One had met everyone but me.  And I had never met anyone!  Goodness, I was excited.  I put up a big countdown calendar on my computer desktop at work and watched as the days flipped by.  By the time I was down to "3 Days To Go" I could hardly sleep.  We all exchanged contact information and coordinated airport arrival times and transportation to our hotel.

There were hugs and smiles and even a tear or two as we came together the first afternoon.  There was very little reticence, and our
first dinner was full of chatter and laughter.  This was also the first of many toasts to 6 husbands that gave their support and blessings to this trip.  I would again like to thank those wonderful guys.  As we drank and ate, the voices and facial expressions quickly made those blog personalities become 3-dimensional beings and full of life.

That evening we lounged in one of the hotel rooms and shared who we were for hours.  Very different than the post/comment exchange I was used to.  It wasn't just the talking; it was the listening!  It was watching eyes sparkle and noses wrinkle with smiles.  The softness of one woman's voice.  The hearty laughter of another.  Freckles and dimples and expressive hands.  Loved hearing the giggling.  Fun to watch someone cock their head as they listened or nod in agreement.  And it felt so freeing to be able to ask a question or touch someone's arm.  I didn't want to ever get sleepy that night.  And I already knew I wanted time to move more slowly.  I wanted this to last.

How is it possible that I could feel so comfortable and trusting with this group of women?  I already understood that each of the 6 of us was a kind and loving person.  This was the first of many revelations I had those 4 days.  I was truly amazed at how safe and natural it felt.  At first I thought it was just me, but I soon realized the feeling was universal among us.  I am still in awe.

Over the week there were times when we paired off and really concentrated on getting to know just one of the group.  There were great meals and times at the pool and the beach where the talking never let up.  Age and background differences only added to our appreciation of each other.  There was a common perspective that began to cement the friendships.  There was a common respect, too.  I am still trying to understand what really happened in those few days together.  All six of us.  It was kind of bigger than the sum of its parts.  I have never experienced anything like it before.

I felt so accepted and free to be myself.  It seemed as if I had met 5 sisters I never knew I had.  Truly, I have never been able to talk to my own sisters the way I was able to talk to Sunny, Terps, Katie,
Meredith and PK.  It was a remarkable group of women.  The freedom to talk about the things we did has never happened to me before.  I have held this spanking passion in my head and heart since the time I was cognizant and being able to talk so frankly was like breathing different air or something.

I don't know whether this little spot in time will ever happen again.  Maybe it was a once in a lifetime occurrence, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.  I came to know 5 very special women and in the process rediscovered myself.  For now I just hope that the memory doesn't fade.  That just like rereading a favorite book, I can pull it up when I am missing these good ladies and turn the pages on those precious days together.

To Beer or Not to Beer - That is a Stupid Question

Today's post is dedicated to things Ella loves.  Besides spanking, that is.  Since woman does not live by spankings alone, I thought it was "high time" I shared a few of the things that make me feel so blessed in this life.  The title reveals several top contenders for Ella's Happy Place.

There is an old country song named, "I Like Beer" by Tom T. Hall. and I have been known to even sing it, usually if I have had "too much of a good thing."  Beer, that is!  Years ago I drank wine, but gave it up when I discovered it aggravated a certain type of headache from which I suffered as a young woman.

There are so many types of beer to explore and so many locations countrywide and around the world with their own breweries.  If I am ever "in a pickle" over a holiday gift to give, I just may choose a "Beers Around the World" sampler and then help you drink it.  If Ella was skipping down her own Yellow Brick Road in the Land of Beers, she would be singing,

"Lagers and Pilsners and Ales, Oh My!"

Other than stouts and porters, I pretty much love them all.  My current favorites are the IPAs; India Pale Ale was originally brewed in England with extra hops to survive the journey to British troops stationed in India.  Drinking a pint in London and noshing on a steak and kidney pie means Ella has reached the Promised Land.  "If the truth were known," she might do this for both lunch and dinner.

"For a quart of ale is a meal for a king"

"For a quart of ale is a meal for a king."

One of thousands of memorable quotes given to us by William Shakespeare, who is another one of Ella's great loves.  And not just because this author enjoyed his ale!  His plays were meant to be
performed - not read.  You cannot force a high school student to read Shakespeare and expect him or her to appreciate the genius.  It wasn't until I was almost 18 and saw one of his plays onstage in Stratford, Ontario, that the love affair began.

It has continued my whole life long.  When doing my undergrad work, I had a double major in education and English.  My Shakespeare classes and even the essays were always my favorites.  Many people never get past the comedies and a few of the more famous tragedies.  I have studied every last play - even all the histories.  The best professor I ever had would read certain passages in a big Texas drawl.

                                    Imagine this, if you will.

"I would challenge y'all to a battle of wits,
but I see y'all are unarmed."

I adored that man.  He even encouraged us to perform scenes by excusing us from an essay.  And, yes, I did.

I jump on any chance I get to see them onstage.  I had an extensive library of Shakespeare stories for children when I taught, and you have not lived until you have seen 9 year old kids perform A Midsummer Night's Dream or TheTempest.  You would have "laughed yourself into stitches."  I have been fortunate enough to have attended The Merry Wives of Windsor at the rebuilt Globe Theatre in London.  There are not very many things on my bucket list, but one wish I have always wanted to realize would be to attend a summer Shakespeare class at Cambridge or Oxford.  "..Perchance to dream," and it doesn't cost anything to dream.

There is no one person who has had as big an impact on the evolution of the English language as William Shakespeare.  Chances are you quote him at least once a day.  Did you notice all the highlighted words and quote marks in this post?  Those are all gifts from Will over 400 years ago.
  • Have you ever said an object "vanished into thin air?"
  • Have you ever felt you didn't sleep "one wink?"
  • Have you ever praised someone as a "tower of strength?"
  • Have you ever sold a car that had "seen better days?"
  • Have you ever pleaded "to give the devil his due?"
  • Have you ever said, "good riddance" to a difficult person?
  • Have you ever heard he was as "dead as a door nail?"
  • Have you ever told a child that his room was an "eyesore?"
  • Have you ever known a person who was the "laughing stock" of the whole town?

Well, "for goodness' sake," you are quoting Shakespeare!

And don't forget that it was The Bard who wrote such perfect dialogue for the most memorable onstage spanking you ever hoped for.  When Petruchio bellows,

"For I am he am born to tame you, Kate,"
                                    she has met her HOH.

When fair Kate delivers her speech in Act V, she preaches to two other women....

"Such duty as the subject owes the prince,
                 Even such a woman oweth to her husband;
And when she is froward, peevish, sullen, sour,
And no obedient to his honest will,
What is she but a foul contending rebel,
And graceless traitor to her loving lord?
I asham'd that women are so simple
To offer war where they should kneel for peace,
Or seek for rule, supremacy, and sway,
When they are bound to serve, love, and obey."

And there you have the oldest known TTWD post.
                                              Genius.
So I raise my glass and rest my case.
